Disappointing Day

Today was a bit disappointing. It being "International Children's Book Day" or some-such, there were readings all day at the library/reading center in Oneroa. Unfortunately, there was much too much talk about books, and far too little reading going on, at least for the patience of an almost-three year old.

Then, the rescheduled Onetangi Beach Races were on at the beach by our house. There were sandcastle competitions, and stalls, and so on, but it turned into a drizzly day, so we just headed back home.

The day was saved when Ilona took Alexander on a "jungle walk" up through the back of our house. Since we are staying on a steep hillside, the "garden" is a steep climb up, which we hardly ever do (Mike slipped on the hill a few weeks ago and went down about 20 feet, and ended up covered in cuts and bruises). But today Alexander put on his jungle outfit and they explored the hillside for an hour.
