We are off on a short trip this weekend. The Coromandel peninsula is the land mass that we view from our balcony. It is about a two hour drive from Auckland and is a popular weekend/vacation retreat. A colleague has a "bach" (cottage) there, and we will visit them. First, we take the ferry over to the mainland to drive to Coromandel Town, which fortunately has a playground (our motel even has a trampoline).
